Three pieces of free business software to help your business grow

May 2, 2012 by Guest Post in Business with 2 Comments

For owners of small businesses everywhere, the importance of keeping costs low is massive. Buying software needed to keep your operation going could cost thousands; the same goes for paying fees for accountants, designers and even for conference call services, where operators can charge you for any add-on services.

Net Voucher Codes

Any savings you can make as a business are invaluable, no matter what it is you need. For hotels, using a Travelodge discount code can help. Voucher codes for other expenses like clothing could help too: if you have a discount code, feel free to use it, as it could save you tens or hundreds of pounds, which all add up in the long run.

If you’re worried about forking out thousands for anything, especially software, you need not worry. There are plenty of free programs which perform the same tasks as their more expensive rivals, but for no fee whatsoever. While some free programs serve no purpose whatsoever, others are hugely impressive. Here are three of the best:

Unforgiven Organiser

If hiring a PA is beyond your means, then perhaps Unforgiven Organiser is the next best thing. Sharing characteristics with a similar program from Microsoft, unlike its more established rival, it’s free. You can organise your schedule on a daily, monthly, weekly or annual basis, and the Contacts Manager function can help you syncrhonise your internet browser, Windows telephony and e-mail client; combining all your most important programs for your benefit.

Open Office

Many of us may take it for granted, but if you don’t have Microsoft Office pre-installed on your computer, to buy the latest version, it could cost you hundreds which you need for other purposes. Open Office, created by Sun Microsystems, is a free program which performs all the same tasks as MS Office like word processing, data entry and even presentations. You can make all documents compatible with Office programs should you need to send any to a client in case they use Office, as well as being able analyse and evaluate data clearly and concisely.

Free Dynacom Accounting Edition

This might not be as advanced as the main version, but the Free Accounting Edition has enough features to meet all your accounting needs. Features available for use include banking, payroll, purchasing, sales and other general ledger functions. The interface is easy on the eye and pretty simple to get your head around if you’ve not used accounting software before.

All good tips and I’d also add that if you have kids or know someone with kids get your Microsoft software from Software4students.

They’re authorised by Microsoft and you can get hundreds of pounds off the normal price.

Have been using OpenOffice at home for years…really no point paying for Microsoft!
